I love the character Herbert Pocket. He is just what Pip needs to keep himself grounded. It is even better that he is the pale young gentleman that Pip had a fight with at Miss Havisham's house.

Of all of the people that Pip encounters in his life as a gentleman, Herbert is definitely the best. He is the only one who teaches Pip things that matter. How cleaver of Dickens to bring back the "pale young man."
